Wisconsin Statewide "Guard Home" Organizing Meeting

Full Description:

Wisconsin is one of more than 20 states engaged in a nationwide campaign to challenge illegal deployments of our National Guard troops to Iraq and Afghanistan, and our state is on track to be one of the first states to pass legislation requiring the Governor to review all Federal orders for deployment of our state's Guard, and to refuse unlawful deployments of the Guard.
 
Get together with the Wisconsin folks who are moving this campaign forward, including "Bring the Guard Home" national coordinator Ben Manski, by joining the Wisconsin "Bring the Guard Home" campaign at 6pm on Friday, June 19th at the MREA Energy Fair in Custer, near Stevens Point.
 
This information/ networking session will include:
 
  1. How did the national "Bring the Guard Home" campaign get started? What is the legal foundation for the campaign? What's the status of the national campaign?
  2. Where is the campaign headed in Wisconsin? Timeline and strategy for winning passage of AB 203, a bill introduced in the state Assembly by Representative Spencer Black, of Madison, with legislative hearings planned for September.
  3. What can I do locally to build support for "Bring the Guard Home" legislation?
  4. Networking with people in your area and campaign staff.
